California correspondence, 1850-1855.

This collection of letters to and from Philo describe the latter part of an overland journey to California by the Humboldt to the Sink and the desert. Other letters describe the Wolf Creek mining region, a cholera epidemic in Sacramento, living conditions of the miners, and the lives of those left at home by the prospectors.
